Likes and Hates

How many of you people like cooking? No one? because I do. Cooking is one of the things I like doing the most and I am going to tell you this story about a recipe I couldn't prepare properly but that some days ago I, finally, managed to do in a perfect way.

I've always liked sea food since I was very young and I really don't know why, perhaps, and according to my mom I inherited that like, because my dad used to take her, once a week, to a sea food restaurant, during his pregnancy, and she always had shrimps, that is why, when it is about sea food shrimps are my favourites ones.

As I was telling you, I love shrimps and especially "shrimps in garlic sauce" so during this year I have been triying to prepare that recipe, but I didn't succes until some days ago. It was a Sunday morning and me and my family wanted to have shrimps for lunch, therefore I watched a video on youtube about how to prepare them in a delicious sauce. Salt, basil, oliv oil, cumin, garlic, lemon and one pound of shrimps were the ingredients.

By 1 pm that day, I was ready to serve the dishes and since I followed the instructions carefully, step by step, when we all tried them we were like "Oh my god, this is delicious" my grandmother said "Boy, you do know how to cook! It is like if you were studying to become a cooker instead of studying to become an English professor" We really had a great time that day enjoying of my delicious food.

Hope you like my story!

Honesty

How many of you people have cheated on an exam? Is it just me the only one who have done it? I don't think so and, indeed, I think you all have done it, at least once. Here is my story pals.

I was in seventh grade at high school when I first decided to cheat on an exam, not because I was a bad student nor because I didn't remember about it, but because I just wanted to give it a try since I had never tried out what was it like. The day before the events took place, I was completely sure about what I was going to do next morning. Nevertheless, my conscience wouldn't leave alone so it told me "Don't do that David, don't be that adventurous. I think you should better forget about it and study as you always do" but, to be honest, I didn't pay much attention to that.

The day came, finally, and I was ready to cheat by the first time. It was an information technology exam, a piece of cake to be honest, but since I didn't study at all it was one of the most difficult exams I had taken so far. I was there looking at everywhere, trying to look at other's exams, but I didn't manage to copy even a word. Some of my classmates passed me some of the answers, but they were completely illogical. The only good thing about my "great" idea was that my professor never realized that I was cheating. However, it was one of the most stupid ideas I have ever had.

Eventually, and as many of you would imagine, I failed the exam. My mark was zero and I was like "Oh my god, a zero.  What am I going to do? Fortunately, I passed the other exams with 5, therefore in the end I passed the signature and not even my parents knew anything about my idea of cheating.

Since that I have never cheated again and I won't ever.

My old Fiat 1

My grandmother used to tell me the story when my father graduated from high school, and she always emphasised on the present that he was given by my grandfather, a car. Therefore, I used to think about the present I will be given when I graduated from high school, would it be a car too? Here is the story.

After 8 months I graduated from High school, my father gave me a 1995 model, red, Fiat 1. I was gleeful because it will be extremely useful for the university, but, unfortunately, not everything was rosy and I realized that owning a car is not easy at all.

Things started to go wrong after some months of using it.  One day I was coming from La Mesa de los Santos and there was this particular smell emanating from my car, so I decided to stop and check out what was going on, but... surprise! the brakes didn't work. What I did was to use the emergency brake or the hand brake and I put the car in first gear. After 30 minutes the brakes were working again and amazingly I managed to go home.

Another day I was picking my girlfriend up from the university, I was driving over the 27th street when suddenly, my car turned off. I tried to switch it on again, but nothing happened, so I called my dad and told him what was going on, he asked me to wait and to keep trying to switch it on. Fortunateley, I was near a parking lot so that when my father arrived, he pushed my car with his car and we managed to park it.

I still have some problems with the battery, with the tires, with the lights, with the sits, with the keys, among other things.

And that's it. Sometimes owning a car is not funny besides,  it could be really expensive to mantain it.

Where on earth is the money?

I had this really bad experience with some money that the cashier at my job gave me to pay for people's orders; they call it "la base". Let me tell you all what exactly happened.

I was there at my workplace, it was about 8 pm and Patricia, the cashier, was giving me "la base", one hundred and fifty thousand pesos to pay for people's orders in case they don't pay immediately. I was really enthusiastic and happy that night, I don't remember why, that I just wanted all the people in the world to come to the bar. At about 10:30 pm people was arriving to the place and I started to wait; some people paid in the moment they ordered but some others didn't, therefore I had to use some money from "la base" to pay for it. Everything was going good so far that night until this very moment in which I realized that I lacked ninety thousand pesos from the one hundred and fifty thousand pesos I was given earlier that night, and because of that I had to stop waiting and try to remember wether if everyone had already paid me or not.

After 30 minutes I had already checked all the tables I was serving, I even asked some of the clients to pay me with the excuse that the cashier was asking me to pay her, but, unfortunatelly, I still lacked the money. However, I tried not to pay much attention to that and I started waiting again.

That very night everybody gave me tips that I made a profit of sixty thousand pesos. Time was passing so fast that when I looked at my watch it was 2 in the morning, and once again I stopped waiting. Then, I checked all the tables I was serving, asked pepole wether if they had already paid me or not and it turns out that everyone had already paid me for they orders. I remember asking myself  "where on earth is the money" I was very angry and desperated.

Eventually, the ninety thousand pesos I lacked never appeared and I had to pay for them using the  profit I made from tips and the salary. It was such a really bad experience that just thinking about it makes me upset.

Hope nothing like that happen to you people!

Back in time

If I had the power to go back in time, I would definitely go back to my high school days, especially to my senior year days,  because I would love to repeat all those crazy, beautiful, amazing and hillarious experiences I had the opportunity to share with my friends.

When I first entered to high school I was about 11 and since my first high school day I made new friends. Our friendship got better as the time passed and a month after our first school day we made our first prank; there were several pomarroso trees and we took the fruit, then suddently, an epic battle took place at the school's yard, it was we, 6th grade students, against 8th grade students. After that our principal appearead, we run as fast as possible and hid.

Next year there was this professor whose name was Silverio, our Maths professor, who challanged us every single class; he wanted us to race with him and those students who arrived to the classroom after his arrival had to clean it up, while those who arrived first were given extra points.

In 8th grade, in algebra class, we had another epic battle, but this time our weapons were hand made paper airplanes. Fortunately, our professor didn't realize and we had a great time.

Next year, there was this sports activity and some of my friends escaped from the school and bought two bottles of "aguardiente", so we drunk it and some of them were drunk, which was hillarious because they were doing, of course hillarious things such us saying hello to everyone, run everywhere and some other crazy things.

Nothing relevant happened in 10th grade. However, in senior year we share plenty of experiences. First, we had a great time picking up our swaters, designing them, buying them, it was just great. Second, we established an excellent relationship with our professors, therefore the environment at classes was amazing. Third, our prom was one of the best proms ever in our school, we enjoyed a lot. Finally, our graduation was outstanding; there was this guy known as "el gato" who was playing the violin and his excellent performance made us cry. Our professors were so proud of us that at the end everything was marvelous.

And this is why I would definitely go back to my high school days if I had the power to go back in time.

Hope you like it!

Living together...

Living together with others is not a problem for me, perhaps because I'm a very relaxed and paceful person, but sometimes things go crazy, and when do things go crazy for me? when living with a neatfreak or a pig is about.

I live with my grandmother, my mother and my sister. My grandmother is a relaxed and paceful person, as well as I am, but my mother is a neatfreak and my sister is a pig, imagine that! And why do I say that things go crazy when you live with either a neatfreak or a pig? Let me give you some ideas.

Every single day of my life I wake up, make my bed, tidy up my room and do some of the housework, of cofuse I do brush my teeth, take a shower, put some perfum on me but that is not what the story is about, and go to the university, then when I come back my mother is like "David come here why didn't you tidy up your room?" and I am like "what do you mean I didn't tidy up my room" then she says "you didn't boy there's a book on your bed" to which I reply "mom is just a book" and then she says "I do not care, go and tidy up your room". After having lunch I do the washing up and once again my mother voice interrupts my humble work "You never do things properly, don't you?" and I'm like "what did I do wrong this time?" and she says "move you don't know anything about doing the washing up, you don't put the spoons there, you put the spoons here, you don't put knives and forks there, you put them here, you don't wash dishes like this, you wash them like this" and I am like "my god help me give me some patience"
Try to imagine how annoying it is...

On the other hand, something completely different happens with my sister. She never tidies up her room, does the housework, does the washing up, she doesn't do anything but makes a mess. I hate it when she takes my things, without my permission of course, and once she stops using them she doesn't put them back in the place she found them. Once again try to imagine how annoying it is that you want to use your own laptop, for example, and you don't find it because your "beautiful sister/brother" took it and doesn't put it back in the place she/he found it!

The worst thing about this particulary situation is that my mother hardly ever asks my sister to be ordered or to do the housework or to do her homeworks, ironic, isn't it?

And those are some of my reasons of why sometimes things go crazy when you live with others.

I hope you enjoy my post!

Welcome to my humble...blog

Hello everyone,

It has been a long way back since the last time we had the opportunity to use the blogging experience, which I find amazing, to share our experiences and of course to practice and to improve our English. Now that we have this opportunity again I'm really  happy to be part of it.

My life is still the same except by little things that have changed, my plans are still the same, even thought I'm more into education now.

Learing English has been an awesome experience for me since that is the way my dreams will become true.

I hope you all enjoy this experience again.

Best wishes,

David
